"I bought and fitted 15 sets for a customer and thought handles were excellent value, looked very good and set off the doors perfectly, but did not use the hinges, which did not look as good a quality."
"Purchased for a house renovation - these handles are a bargain. They have a contemporary edge on a traditional style and seem solid and well made; only reservation is they are a little sharp along the edges although not rough."
"At the special offer price especially you just cant go wrong - even at the regular price they represent great value, quality is good, finish faultless, all you need for the door, pre drill screw holes though as they are adequate but not the strongest - normally I align the screw heads but wouldn't risk over tightening these. use these you and your customers will not be disappointed!"
"The handle and hinges seem OK for the money, but the slotted screws let the whole thing down. With a couple of the hinge screws the one side of the screw came off with the final twist. With the slightly raised door handle screws some of the slots were not deep enough making them difficult to drive in, so much so that I ended up cutting some of the slots deeper with a hacksaw. Why don't they provide Philips heads or Pozidrive screws which would be much better?"
"3 failures of the latches in the 6 I bought. Had my daughter trapped in her bedroom & had to damage architrave, doorshut & door to get her out. Screwfix have refunded all cost of the hardware I bought."
"I purchased 7 packs of these which totaled 14 handles.
Within 48 hours of the handles being fitted, 2 handles failed. They wouldn't return to the horizontal position as the internal springs had failed. These were returned and exchanged.
Over the next week or so, 6 more handles failed. Either the springs had failed again, or they were making an awful clicking sound when operated. These were taken back and exchanged. Another 20 mile round trip.
Around a week later, 2 springs in 2 more handles failed, so all the handles were collected and I bought some Carlisle Brass Victorian Scroll handles from Screwfix (Product Code: 33903) and they are perfect.
It could be a bad batch of these 60722 handles I suppose, but looking at how they are made, I suspect they are simply of very poor manufacturing quality. Even some of the screws supplied were faulty - some without slots and some without threads!
"Looked ok, but when installed, the whole thing is flimsy. There's a lag before the handle opens the latch, and the flat head screws provided are terrible quality as well, impossible to use them as they melted away at any pressure when tightening, had to get proper ones. Also had several ones that came with two of the same side, so had to get them replaced. Would not buy again, cheapest of the cheap and the worst quality I've encountered for a door handle. Will go to iron mongers next time."
