"Took a while to fit but great result when done. You have to make your own jaw liner's (would have been nice if some were supplied). Been in use for a few months now and has been totally reliable in use. Preparation for a proper fit of a great product is the key. There are cheaper on the market but are they made as well?"
"i was looking for a second hand record vice for £50. as new ones can cost £100. Till i found this brand new one for £53 from screwfix. Jaws were alot thicker than i thought they would be great bit of kit for the price. Better than second hand"
"Wanted a decent carpenters clamp for a workshop. The simple, solid construction is of the high standard one would expect from Irwin Record and I have every confidence it will last. Coach bolts for installation would have been nice - hence 4 stars instead of 5 for features but that is only a minor criticism really - the clamp itself is the real meat in this terrific little pie!"
"I made the mistake of buying a cheap vice from a well known on-line auction site……and as the saying goes, "buy cheap, pay twice".
I make country sticks/walking sticks, and part of the process is to straighten the shanks, this requires tight clamping of the unbent wood and then applying pressure to bend in the opposite direction - it is this pressure that broke the cheap unit.
I purchased this one and was very surprised initially how robust it is, very solid and all moving and working parts are excellent.
I particularly liked the fact I could attach a softwood face to the vice to protect the stuff I work o. Very happy with it."
