"This latch is reasonably well made and looks attractive. All fixings are included, which is a plus.
One issue is that the retaining keep is not very deep, so the latch bar can ride up if the gate is subject to variable winds. Another potential problem is common to most latches of this type: if the gate is heavy and swings shut at speed, the keep is easily broken.
These may or may not be significant issues, depending on the application."
"I bought this product to replace an identical one purchased from Screwfix 2 years ago. With the first the handle came off regularly due to poor manufacture and I had to keep refitting it. After two years the rose snapped and I was forced to replace it with an identical one or modifying the gate. I hope this one is last a lot longer."
"complete rubbish! fitted it OK, after using it a couple of times the bracket that stops the latch opening up or down too far fell apart, on inspection it was 2 pieces of poor quality metal that were poorly joined together, the handle has a clip that kept coming apart. removed it and binned it! Generally find Screw-fix products pretty good value but on this occasion they failed miserably I'm afraid."
"The latch ring broke free (circlip on back came off) during fitting. Flimsy lightweight brackets and the keep hook profile is such that the latch does not stay in the hook. A slight push and it rises up out of the hook and the gate opens. Wasted 30 minutes fitting it and now got to remove it and return to store. Pain . . . .
From the reviews of all the gate latches it seems screwfix are using different suppliers for the same products as some are described as heavy good quality and some flimsy. One review had two of the same but they were quite different quality."
