" Delivered on a pallet, well packaged inside the box.
Checked the guides, blade etc. and everything was properly aligned and absolutely square out of the box.
The supplied blade looked OK if a bit thick, swapped it out for my preferred supplier prior to use.
Design is neat and well thought out, and everything is heavily built with a decent size motor.
Having partially stripped the machine there aren't any really obvious flaws though it might have been nice if some of the screws e.g. on the blade cover were stainless/Allen heads to avoid wear and corrosion.
The slide benefits a lot from a bit of PTFE dry film coating and some silicone oil and runs more smoothly after this is applied. From the factory the whole thing is well oiled but this really needs to be cleaned off as it attracts dust and dirt.
After cutting the guide rails will need cleaning but this is easy enough - the machine can be hosed down. Just make sure to either dry it thoroughly and/or make sure it's oiled/coated to avoid any surface rust on the linear bearing or guide bearings (no problems since using PTFE dry film). It's also worth putting something on the blade fixings to avoid any corrosion on any of these parts as there will usually be some moisture on these even if you run the machine dry before putting it away.
The linear bearing rail will pick up some light surface wear from dust and debris but this doesn't look like it will affect performance, it just seems to be the slight irregularity on the chrome evening out.
The water tray has a place to put the pump and there is a moulding where a drain plug could go, but out of the box you'll have to work out your own way to get rid of the water.
This is a heavy machine and there aren't any wheels, so bear this in mind if you'll be moving it very often, though this would be easy to sort out. As supplied the machine is very stable but not particularly portable.
Have done 90-odd cuts on porcelain so far and all is working fine, if anything it's working better now than when first used, probably due to improving the guide rail lubrication.
Cuts measure as straight/square and very fine tolerances are possible if set up correctly. On porcelain there was only microscopic chipping of the tile top edge and 3mm offcuts on 300mm tiles would survive intact which I took as a good sign of how the blade was behaving. The finish on the cut edges was fine enough to allow cut tiles to be directly butted together without an obviously visible joint.
The supplied guide (square or adjustable to an angle) isn't particularly brilliant but the backstop rail and the deck of the cutter allow for different ways of positioning and clamping tiles to be improvised.
Overall seems much better than other cutters at the same price point and more in line with much more expensive models - probably because it's made by a machine tool manufacturer rather than someone just churning out tile cutters. The only weak spot is the cutting guide and that is easily sorted.
Would definitely recommend. "

FS850 to tile our bathroom

" Just arrived,as with most things German its built like the Bismark. If it cuts as well as its built i'll be well pleased as i have 650mm 10mm tiles to cut but the bed will cut much bigger tiles. Its 'heavy' but will fit wheels at one end and use on collapsible tabe for portability and avoiding a hernia rather than supplied legs. A wheel set optional extra would be a good addition to buy if ever offered. Overall i'm well impressed and will re-post when i use it. Everything went slky smooth with Screwfix as well as phone call asking me about convenient delivery. 10/10 "

" Bought this to cut 20mm thick marble tiles, as the Screwfix description said it was suitable for "granite, marble, etc and to a max. cutting depth of 40mm.
However, not so, and found it totally underpowered for my job and struggled to do each cut in less than 30 minutes.
Instruction book with the saw says "small to medium ceramic and glazed" so a bit different to the Screwfix description.
When I checked with the manufacturer they confirmed max. thickness for marble is 12mm. Perhaps this could be mentioned on the Screwfix website so others don't make same mistake as me.
To end on a positive note this is a great machine for the money for cutting smaller tiles and Screwfix/Scheppach have handled my problem very efficiently and fairly, arranging to collect the saw and provide full refund. "
