Karcher GP40 Pump

"I bought this pump to extract water from a 25' deep well.
It was easy to set up and prime, runs very quietly and delivers a good 3.6 bar pressure.
A super bit of kit.
My only complaint is that when purchasing the pump you also need the connectors for the inlet and outlet. Screwfix do stock them but give no information as to what you need.
Super fast delivery too!"

"Good bit of kit. I've only given it a 3 for reliability as I've only just purchaced it. Come on Screwfix, lets get it together here, how can you accuratetly assess reliability of a product after a few weeks?? Maybe the question should be 'is it still working?' (lol)"

"Tried a similar pump costing 4 x the price , lasted a few hours and wouldn't pump. Purchased the KARCHER has been running continuously for 23 Days without a drop in performance. Definitely the simplest and best pump for the job."

Karcher GP40

"I have owned one of these pumps now for two months and I am really impressed with it. I use it to pump water from a stream to irrigate my garden. It feeds all the drip irrigation in the green house, the sprinklers in the flower beds and the large sprinkler on the veg patch at the same time. Flow and pressure are superb. As I work with professional irrigation equipment as my daytime job it is nice to see something in the domestic market that is of good quality. Any one with an available supply of water would certainly benefit from one of these to water their garden."

Karcher GP40 650W Garden Pump

"Good solid pump, very difficult to find a supplier for the 1" - 3/4" connector to attach the 3/4" hose to the pumps 1" male connection, so I made my own.
A) Buy 2 x straight connectors or couplers 22mm x 1" female (compression fit).
B) 2 x 22mm - 15mm pipe reducers,
C) 2 x 6" pieces of 22mm copper pipe
D) 2 x small 1" jubilee clips to fit over the hose.
The straight 1" female connection fits onto the pump, the 6" 22mm copper pipe fits into
the other end.
At the end of the 22mm pipe, solder on the 22mm x 15mm reducer.
The 15mm part of the reducer fits neatly into the 3/4" hose - so just slip on the hose with the jubilee clips and tighten.
I know it sounds long winded but at least you should be able to get all the parts from one place - time is money, kerching.

It works OK

"Ended up with this pump because it was the only one in stock.
This pump is NOT self-priming.
You MUST fill the suction pipe and the impeller void completely prior to starting it up, or it will just pump air.
If you want it to start and stop easily ( automatic) you MUST have a one way foot valve on the end of the delivery pipe to stop air getting in the suction pipe..
The pump probably does deliver the specified amount, but it is quite a feeble jet coming out.
I will keep it as a backup, but it isn't an impressive machine.
