Good Blade - Rubbish saw

"I really should have taken more notice of the overview "perfect for large-scale projects". Yes perfect for the rough, tough site jobs, nowhere near Bosch, Hitachi, Makita build quality for precision work.
The first job I used it for was to make an additional shelf for a cupboard unit, having cut same to a trial size I decided to take 5mm off of one edge. Maybe I am missing something but I was unable to take off the 5mm because the blade guard does not retract unless there is "full" contact across the front of the guard, 5mm and it just slides aside.
All other circular saws I have used have a facility to manually and safely hold the blade guard open. I can see no way of doing this with the Rage without putting myself at considerable risk
For the same reason it is impossible to make a "plunge" cut.
The pressed steel construction of the saw obviously reduces manufacturing cost but in my view makes it pretty near useless. Yes it will cut virtually anything provided you do not need to make it fit.
