Very good for purpose

"I was very clear about what I wanted - and didn't want. I think it's a gamble to buy a petrol wacker unless you go for a well known brand. Plenty of potential to get a machine that's hard to start, needs servicing and having to drain the petrol tank before storing.
In contrast just switch this machine on and use.
I've used it mainly for Type 1 - and it does a very good job. It may need an 'extra pass' to get things well compacted - but it's so quiet and easy to use. I think it would struggle with proper hardcore - but should be brilliant for block paving.
No assembly instructions in the box - so had to use the photos on the outside to put it together! You have to compact going forward (or else it just digs-in). Otherwise it's a very good machine."

"A great alternative to petrol driven versions, won't do the same heavy compacting of rubble but works great on MOT type 1 and sand. Its quiet too and works when you plug it in rather than having to replace stale petrol, clean plugs, filters, have your van stink of fuel etc. Wont ever replace the petrol ones but for small jobs its fantastic, great addition to my toolkit."

Hulk not so hulk-like

"I guess I should have not opted for the electric variety of compactor plate - but this one sounded good. It's fair for the price but next time, i'll opt for a more powerful petrol one!!! We have to keep our foot on it to add weight to compact properly - that's for hardcore - maybe it's better for sand... we'll see tomorrow"

Died after a few weeks

"If you just want to compact a bit of sand or quarry dust then maybe this is the tool, but, for anything tougher, it struggles. I used it mainly on type 1 and it was OK but, after a few weeks, it seemed to shake itself to death. I think that the problem was in the switch.
Shortly after it had gone back I hired a small petrol compactor and the difference was startling. The petrol one did a much better, faster job and tackled things that the electric one could never have done.
Would I buy another electric one? No."
