"I bought this during our house hunting - it's a fast, non-invasive way to get an idea of sizes of rooms etc.
We've now bought the house and I still find I use this for doing DIY house, garden measuring. I've used this from measuring curtains to the fish pond (it's not waterproof!).
It'll measure 6m+ in daylight against a wooden fence (which absorbs the light).
The 3D volume measurement is more of a gimmick as most DIYers will know that you need to measure more than one point on a wall..
Only thing I think that could improve this is a backlit display (when you're measuring out of a dark spot). However the display is clear and easy to read."

"Pros:
The TLM99 is compact and can be pocketed easily.
The accuracy and range are good (2mm at 30 metres).
The price (especially when discounted) is competetive.
Cons:
The instructions are abysmal.
The holes for a lanyard are difficult to use.
