Makes putting it up easy

" I have used these twice now, once about 3 years ago ( and they are still good and solid) , and also over the last fortnight.
I used them for building large pergolas, allowing me to set out the base positions in advance, getting everything level and square, ready to accept the posts.
The posts then just pop in and before you know it, its up!
I have used them with 100mm PSE, which finish at 95mm so I slide in a cheeky pack here and there which keeps them nice and tight.
The clamp part could be improved as it bends easily, and the bolts only have to look at rain and they rust, but a smear of grease keeps them ok, and its unlikely you will need to undo in the short term, but could be easily replaced in the future if necessary.
Only 4stars for value as they are a bit expensive.

Heavy solid build

" Good quality but the clamp could be better. Solid build, time will tell how good the galvanise protects the concreted in section. "

Quite good - bolt may rust
2 Sep 2012
By
, Brighton
" Used these for a few fence supports and when concreted in they are solid but would need additional support at either end of a run of fence panels like a wall or brick pier - I've attached them to the house and an existing concrete post.. They're just not strong enough to rely on alone and I wouldn't trust them alone against any strong winds.. Unfortunately the bolt used to retain the post isn't great either and has already started to show signs of rust. A better quality bolt and more effective securing mechanism would make it better. They're also quite pricey at £19 a pair but should will make it easier to change posts in the future, even if a new bolt is needed. "

Makes the Job easier
22 Apr 2010

" I've used these post supports for several DIY fence jobs. Really easy to use and provide a very solid base. The only downside is that they are quite expensive. Makes it a high cost job if you're doing a long run. Still if you're happy to trade effort for cost then you can't go wrong. "

too small
13 Apr 2014

" I bought these to support 2x 6 foot 100mm fence posts. Now if some one has has even picked up such a big post, you know how heavy it is! The posts slide straight in and you then tighten then with the bolts, but the issue is that, as the posts are so heavy and tall and this support only holds 6 inches of the bottom post out of the 6 foot - it doesn't hold it that stable and the post wobbles!
Now this size might be ok for a 70mm post, but 100mm support should have been a bit taller to be able to control/hold the post more.
But I don't think there is any alternative out there, so we might as well use this :) "

Best place to get this post

" Tried all the local DIY stores trying to get this type of post but they either did not stock them or they were expensive.
The other make of post at the other stores did seem better constucted though but in the end price won out "

Good for Fence Repair
31 May 2011

" Bought two of these to replace waterlogged rotten posts. Good for fixing where ground may be too wet to sink a wooden post into the ground. Expensive but posts might last better than a post sunk into a wet ground. "
