"Always buy solder rings just for extra confidence in tight to see places solder as run all the way around. Bit cheaper than Yorkshire fittings and seem as good. Get odd one that pipe struggles to fit in because of the solder inside causing issues but generally no real issues. Defeats the object of buying these but always seem to add a little more solder to them."
"Bought this for a quick little job, went for a solder ring fitting due to space restrictions (compression joint too bulky) and not having to spend a lot of money on a roll of solder, of which I'd use only a tiny bit. I thought the two-pack was very good value and it would have been, had the joint done its job! I did notice that there seemed to be a lot of "play" when I inserted the pipes into the joint, but I applied a little extra flux and hoped for the best. But it was no good - the joint ended up leaking. I tried again with the second elbow in the pack, but with the same result. So I decided to nip out to get some extra solder - that's when I realised just how expensive solder is! I came back without any, and I'm now trying decide what to do next: bite the bullet and pay an extortionate amount for the tiniest bit of solder? Give up on the job? Try to find an alternative solution? Try and hustle a bit off a plumber? I'm no plumber, but I do know a bit about DIY, and I know I won't be buying solder ring joints from ScrewFix again. Hopefully, this is a one-off experience."
