"Although titled a “125 mm PVC Circular weatherproof cowled wall outlet”, the second bullet point states it is made of ABS and not PVC. There are no marks on any of the plastic parts to say what it is made of, neither is there any mention of Manrose. I think it is made of either ABS or polystyrene, but in any case, it is a bit flimsy. I broke the strut across the bottom of the cowl when removing it. It was easily solvent welded to repair it, but that should not have been necessary.
I purchased this fan cover to replace a Marley louvred cover. The noise made by the louvres of the old cover rattling in breezy weather was very annoying. Sadly, this design is no better. The frequency of rattling is lower, but the noise is just as annoying. I solved the problem by fitting a magnetic closure and it is now fine, but I should not have had to do this. With insensitivity to wind at last, I am very happy with this cover. It is a huge improvement on the original Marley junk."
"All vent cowls and flaps are noisy, clattering and banging in the wind. I have stuck a single tiny square of foam draft strip as a bump stop for the flap. It reduces the bang to a soft thump, but more importantly, it has reduced the frequency of banging. because it lets a tiny bit of air through. After al,l it seems to be best of the bunch for reducing drafts. Just off to buy another to replace clattering flaps."
"Good solid overall construction as you would expect from Manrose. As someone else had mentioned, the flap is secured and opened on two small lugs on the opening plate. This is the 3rd replacement I have had due to the lug/s breaking off. Marked down for features as other cowls have split or dual flaps rather than a single. Performance - okay, works well enough when its not broken"
"Replacement cooker hood vent. Bought one and fitted it ok. Switched fan on and vent flap opened. Switched fan off and flap stayed open catching on sides of vent. Took vent off and the flap fell out breaking off one of the pins that flap hangs on. Bought second one, checked on flap operation before fitting. Had to trim off excess plastic from flap as not closing properly just like first one. Fitted vent back up. Whilst clipping vent to back plate flap fell out again and guess what.......yes the pin broke off. I think the phrase we are looking for is "NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE". Rubbish product!"
