Customer Reviews for Lyte Ladder Stand-Off Bracket
"I purchased this having seen one of my neighbour's using it, I noticed that he had more control over the ladder than I had just putting it up against the wall. I saw that with the bracket on that the ladder was not at such a great angle as I had mine, and also assisted with not sliding down the wall. Therefore for safety reasons and common sense it only seemed like a good idea to get one."
"I am a complete DIY novice and was somewhat thrown because the illustration for this product on the Screwfix website did not quite match the product I received. By this I mean that on the website illustration, the bars on the triangular section fit horizontally on to the metal plate which has the hook attachment on it whereas on mine they screw on vertically. I think, or rather, hope I have put it together correctly."
"Bought this for DIY. Did not fit my ladder but rang Lyte direct who said it was designed to work with ladders with 250 or 280mm rung centres. Explained my problem as my ladder was brought back from Canada and had 300mm centres. Excellent help from Lyte resulted in a functional safe fitting. At one point thought of returning item but realised that other retailers were offering same standoff as much higher prices."
"Wish I had bought this years ago . Working at height , on guttering , no longer qualifies as an extreme sport . Leaning back to obtain a better view whilst performing an act requiring both hands was always high risk . No longer . Money well spent ."
"Haven't actually used this yet, so can't recommend it, but very surprised that it was supplied in component form (4 parts plus nuts and bolts) without any assembly or user/safety instructions whatsoever."
"I was very surprised, not to mention concerned, that the stand off did not come with any assembly instructions.
I thought I may have been unlucky but I see another customer had a similar experience in September.
The photograph is of limited value in providing any guidance as the design has now changed.
As an experienced DIY'er I managed to work out a way to put the thing together but given that the stand-off is intended for use at gutter height the consequences of incorrect assembly by someone with less experience don't bear thinking about.
So I don't recommend you buy this unless you know what you're doing."
