"We have something like 8 outside taps and 3 different types of tap cover including jacket, foam box and this tap shaped one.
This seems to offer a better insulation than others to the tap, covering all parts closely. It takes a bit longer to fit but the tap can be used with the cover on (removing two plastic caps). For some of the less used taps these can stay on all year.
For some of the more frequently used taps will keep the box cover as it is fitted in seconds so easy to remove for the summer.
"This is a well designed tap insulation jacket, much superior to the rival "pyramid" type. It actually looks very neat when fitted. However I found it very important to take great care in shaving off unwanted foam to fit the specific tap - its easy to cut off too much and leave some of the tap uninsulated. Otherwise fitting is straightforward and you can operate the tap and connect a hose with the insulation in place. Can't really rate perfomance until we have had a hard winter."
"easy to install, once you have cut to size, found the clips a bit fiddly so put on with cable ties! attached string between both caps just in case they came off in wind and got lost! So far seems to be working fine and looks the part! would recommend this product."
"Very simple and easy to fit and enables the tap to be used simply by removing the covers. But, it only cover the tap itself, the pipe bend out of the wall and short piece of pipe to the tap are not protected - could still freeze in winter."
"Real easy to fit, will see how they fare during the winter. A bit pricey for what is in effect some tubular insulation and cheap plastic end covers. I could have chosen to make my own, or buy these and sneak off to the pub in the time saved. Pub wins every time with me"
"Outside taps need some protection from a cold snap. This cover is low cost, effective and extremely easy to fit. Having had one at home for more than ten years I expect a similar service life from the ones I have now fitted."
"This might be acceptable for a tap which receives little or no use during the winter but for anything else it is unlikely to last very long. I found the spout section hard to fit properly and hard to keep in place once fitted."
