"I bought these drills for a specific job, I was fitting some oder floor pipes and found some steel work. These was realy cheap but performed perfectly, the machined shank meant I could use my existing drill so even better, really happy with the drills and they are all boxed individually so you can keep them oiled and clean."
"Bought these to increase some mounting hole diameters in another tool with a cast base. Slow speed with a little lubricant with the pillar drill and no problems at all. I have only drilled a couple of holes with the 15mm bit so far, but seems to be lasting fine."
"This drill set is a good value set for getting over the problem of small chuck and larger hole required. I drilled out hole in solid steel block with no trouble, being quite rough on the drill bit with no problem. One thing that would make this better and I would not object with the small raise in price is to provide some sort of case to keep them all together."
"To be fair, for the cost, I was unsure what to expect. £25 for 6 "blacksmith" drill bits seemed fair if they were good quality. I bought them for a tough job on 10mm steel. One actually snapped! and the others became blunt after one hole. Would not buy them again for a "blacksmith" type of job but for thin metal or wood then im sure they are fine."
"I am puzzled why a blacksmith would want to drill holes in plasticine. anything more challenging defeats these drills. They are advertised as being able to drill steel., this is just possible as long as you don't mind sharpening the drills every few seconds, cast iron is harder than the drills and wears away the drill faster than the job. save your money and buy a couple of real HSS drills if you really need to drill bigger holes. very disappointing, bit of a waste of steel."
"I tried to use these to drill 6mm mild steel plate. I got about half way through before the cutting edge burred out on the bit. Drilling was done at low speed using a lubricant and cooling agent. Needless to say I was not impressed and had to return them as defective/not fit for purpose. Screwfix to be fair took the return no quibble.
