"Purchased this Titan as a replacement for a different make that had failed.
To date all is good with the new Titan and the pump is performing to an excellent standard."

Titan 550w Dirty Water Pump
10-Jun-2014
By

"I found this pump was very efficient at pumping dirty water that contained very thick algae and decayed leaves to a drain 2meters higher the invert level of the dirty water. The pump has good power and lift. I used the rigid hose attached using a round metal hose clip (not provided). The pump drains water down to a level roughly 1.5 inches from floor/trench surface being drained, so if you need to drain a surface to empty you will need to form a small lower sump in the surface being drained for the pump to sit in, or finish the job by hand bailing to a bucket and pump from the bucket, or get a separate pump designed to drain down to a few mm of surfaces. The pump will certainly shift sludge and dirty water with particles as it says on the can! I'm happy with it."

Good pump to have for floods
10-Jan-2014
By
, Horsham
"When the sunken lawn turned into a pond Iast weekend I bought this pump off the shelf at local branch.
Very easy to set up and use.
Has a good length of cable with an RCD.
Cleared about a foot depth of water in about 2 hours.
Used it next day when it flooded again with about 3 to 6 inches. Being totally weatherproof I could leave it in place and switch on and off manually (see below) to pump out as more water collected.
Has adjustable inlet to cope with solids in the water. On lowest setting it cleared down to dry but you need to use it manually(raise and lower the float switch) to get the last drop out.
It is not self-priming unless fully immersed so for shallow flood you need to start it off in a full bucket of water and then once pumping put it where needed.
Bought flat hose for it but rigid would be better at going around corners without kinking.
Can't comment on reliability as only used it for a few days so far."

"I have been building a Vocational Institute in Ugandan and needed to be able to Harvest the rain water from the roof and lift it to a header tank for the flushed toilets. This pump was installed and after a little experimatation with hoses ( flexi hose did not work) the pump lifted 1,000lt in no time."

Ok for Price

"Good priced pump numerous other DIY stores sell same pump under different name for £10 extra
Good for emergencies but i found it that more often than not it had to be manually primed as it would not pump water out of 30 inch deep trench with hose on once hose removed and pump primed works very well"

very poor float switch
18-Feb-2014
By
, Hereford
"I've had this for a fortnight now, and must say I'm quite disappointed. I wanted to get the Karcher pump that was the same price, but they were sold out without any expectation of getting them back in again, so I had to settle for this one.
What I was most looking forward to was leaving it on 'automatic' mode with the float switch and not having to constantly monitor it. But after pumping out the basement, it left the pump running dry. Also it leaves about an inch of water on the floor that it can't suck up, which is a bother.
But on the plus side, it's very quiet."

The Float switch did not work
28-Jan-2014
By
, Cornwall
"I bought this pump for a sump I had dug to alleviate flooding. The pump worked fine but left to its own devices it would not switch itself on even though it was completely submerged.
I exchanged it for another one and it was exactly the same it would not switch on until I physically lifted the float switch out of the water."

No good in a cellar
07-Nov-2013
By
, midlands
"I bought this to pump out the water in my cellar which for only the 2nd time in 20 years has got water in it.
Problem is that the pump will not pump effectively unless there is at least an inch of water depth which makes it practically useless for me. Even in a bit more depth it struggled to get the water out through an reinforced hose pipe.
This is even though it says it's a clean water pump as well as dirty water.
Also, you have to hold the float switch or balance it carefully unless there's a foot of water.
My previous pump was a "little giant" brand and it managed to pump the cellar almost dry,
Very disappointed, and back to a mop!"
