"Wasn't holding out much hope for this, but needed something to stop the flat bottomed tile drill wondering about. I was very surprised at how well it gripped onto my textured, non glossy tiles, even without wetting it first.
"Bought this to accurately drill 3 off 8mm dia holes on a PCD through porcelain tiles after struggling to control the drilling of a 20mm dia hole the night before. A great price for the versatility, albeit it doesn't have a 20mm dia guide. The suction cup works well, even on textured tiles and held the drill plate rigid."
"I am worried when I consider replacing the shower curtain tension rod with a permanent one because it involves drilling on tiles and I am not good at DIY jobs and it is my first time doing any drilling. However this little thing comes to rescue and I drill on those slippery tiles without scratching their surface or cracking them, which is no less than a miracle for me. The price seems a bit deep but it is definitely worth every penny - much cheaper than having your tiles replaced."
"I used this to cut 35mm holes in floor tiles with a 35mm erbauer bit. After the first few holes I noticed that the guide hole was getting bigger as it was being worn away by the outside of the core drill bit. Still useable, but something to bear in mind."
"This just makes life a little easier when drilling very hard porcelain tiles. You could get by without it, but the task is difficult enough & for the extra cost buy it. Just needs a flatish area for the sucker to fix, so you may struggle around window frames, etc. I wouldn't bother for ceramic tiles."
"Makes it easy to use particular sizes of diamond hole cutters on wall floor tiles with a free hand power drill. Stays stuck to wall very well and centers the bit for starting the cut. Would be even better if more sizes catered for."
"Offered this up onto a shower wall porcelain tile, slightly textured. Checked suction cup well engaged and bent down to pick up my drill. The whole guide fell off the tile and dented the shower tray belonging to my best client.
I am now waiting for a repair kit for the tray. The guide is simply too heavy for the suction cup. I did drill the two 6mm holes in the end but suggest:
1. Do not leave the guide hanging even for a moment as it cannot fully support it's own weight.
2. Only use the guide to get approx 2mm into the tile face then remove it and finish drilling free hand."
