Customer Reviews for Sabrefix Stand-Off Post Anchor Base
"I bought a load of these for a large raised decking project I was doing at home. I spent a good while trying to figure out what was the best way of supporting the deck firmly whilst giving the woodwork the best chance of avoiding rot. I chose these in the end and I'm really pleased with them. Screw them to the bottom of the post, fill the hole with postcrete then sink them in, making sure you leave a gap under the plate, and jobs a goodun! Dead easy, very strong and hopefully keeps the wood rot free for a long time, and even if it does rot, you can replace it and leave the post anchor in place. Highly recommended!"
"Used these on a large low elevation decking job, The bracket itself is rudimentary in design and finish, but sturdy enough to represent value for money. As other reviewers have commented, the bracket does not slip straight onto a regular 100 x 100 mm (4") post. I used a router to cut a groove on two opposing sides, and then had to use preservative on the cut timber. After this, they slipped on fine and did the job well when locked into place with coach screws. If you are looking for a straightforward fit and forget then you will need to look elsewhere and be prepared to pay more."
"These are no where near the quality of Simpson StrongTie (for instance the plates aren't welded square to the legs) but they're no where near the price either. Bottom line - they do the job and don't cost much. Time will tell if the galvanising is up to scratch ..."
"This is a good product, being galvanised and made very solidly. Will definitely help to stop post rot. The only problem I had with it, was the dimensions are strange to place the post within the bracket. They are about 95mm x 95mm, slightly too small for a fence post."
