High Quality valve

"An excellent high quality valve with a good finish and well moulded wheel head. The brass body has been well polished and finshed with good quality chrome plating that does not flake.
The valve installs easily and if done properly is leak free at first attempt.
The wheel head is a nice shiny thermo-plastic and is a good parallel shape promoting ease of use. The colour is a good match to brilliant white paint. It is not known whether it yellows with age."

Oh dear...

"I have used Pegler a lot in the past, but this really disappoints.
Main sale point for me was availability of spares, and the reinforced wheelhead which should give a longer life.
But, exchanged by Screwfix twice within 6 months as faulty!
1st valve - missing wheelhead reinforcement plate - replaced by Screwfix.
2nd valve - leaking around spindle within a month of application, the spindle appears to be shaped with a waist, so gland cannot be set to correct tightness - replaced by Screwfix.
3rd valve - missing reinforcement plate, but Screwfix let me take it from the valve I was returning.
Two letters were sent to Pegler, no reply was received in over a month.
Also worth a comment that the finish of the body and nuts tends to be rather rough, and the square nut type rad insert is harder to screw in without damage than the conventional internal hex version.
I really do not see the price justified by the product.

Worth It?

"The Good:
Flats on the rad tail so you don't need an allen key to insert into radiator.
The Bad:
The tail compression joint with brass olive can be more prone to dripping than other valves I've used.
Twice the price of standard white valves. (That are actually white)
The Ugly:
The LARGE off-white wheelhead."
