The Best Flooring Screws
28 Jul 2014
By Jimbo62

"Got these as I ran out of the type I was using and decided to take a chance on them for T+G chipboard floor for upstairs. I am glad I did as they are brilliant screws, the T20 head makes it far easier than the ordinary star head screws - no damaged heads or metal splinters in my finger as I got with some others. They seem to grip the board tightly, went in easily and no problems as yet. I will stick to these from now on. Great that they gave you the screw driver head along with the screws."

"Perfect for squeaky floorboards and stair treads. T30 head ideal for driving. Very competitive price compared to builders merchants and other online specialists."

Excellent

"Good quality screw. Much better for fixing chipboard than "odrinary" twinfast screws or nails.
Also used them for securing loose, creaking t&g floorboards.

pleasantly different

"As an alternative to nails and common screws, this design is superior in that any gap between board and joist is closed. The T20 drive takes a little getting used to (compared to PZ2) because the bit doesn't drop in to the head as naturally. I always drill a clearance hole in the board. A stainless version may look nice if left exposed?"

"Item was not with threads at top & bottom as illustrated so I returned item immediatley - screws with a thread only at the bottom end - well - I have tons of these so that was the whole point of ordering!"

OK but too heads are too small
8 Jun 2011
By Outmyway

"Theses are nice screws and having the star drive makes for an easy drive with no risk of mashing the heads.
BUT ... I did find its easy to drive them in too far ... the countersunk heads need to be bigger. They will drive straight through 25mm ply if your not careful with torque settings, and I felt they were not giving a solid 'clamp' to the joists as using conventional Goldscrews which have much bigger heads on them.
All said and done ... they are nice to use, and wont go to waste on other applications ... I wish all screws had a star drive!!"
