good value light

"its a cracking little light. i replaced a 150w halogen. its a shame screwfix cant stock lower wattage R7S bulbs for existing security lights, they've been out there for years and go right down to 80watts and only cost a couple of quid in some places!, obviously a far cheaper and simpler alternative i feel should be offered to the customer. there are also now 'fluorescent energy saving' bulbs out there, that are designed to replace a r7s bulb...these range from about 12-30watts depending on where bought... i bought 3, and all have failed to squeeze inside the 'rather tight' housing on my old light, which was originally a 'compact 150w halogen', im sure however they would fit inside the 'traditional 400watt' housing they were advertised to fit. shame again, that these also are not available in screwfix. wakey wakey guys!"

"At last! PIR security lights that don't fry your neighbours retinas! Well made, low power consumption, not too bright, what's not to like?"

Not Brilliant
28 Oct 2013

"I've fitted numerous different types of floodlights, and this was without a doubt the most difficult. I bought several and on a few the screw heads holding the wiring cover on mangled. Then took forever to get them out. Connecting the wires is awkward and not something I would like to do up a ladder. So had to order some junction boxes so I could pre-wire them before going up. The incoming cable clamp isn't big enough for lighting wire. You pretty much have to use circular cable. When finally up and working, they emit a yellow light that's at least less than half as bright as other 12W multi-LED units I've used. All in all, not a great experience."

A great idea if it ever works

"Tired of watching poor quality, power-hungry halogens corrode of the wall, destined for landfill? Want to do the right thing environmentally with a non-essential yard light?
This looks like a compact, solid unit. It's pricey, but perhaps we should pay a bit more for environmentally friendly design and durability; and let's accept that it probably won't be very bright (it really isn't)...
1. The unit is extremely difficult to fit. Internal wiring arrangements are extremely tight and I found I had to have the whole thing dangling in bits to get the bracket fitted to the wall; followed by a tricky reassembly on the wall.
2. A few months in and the LED has begun to get stuck in retrigger mode (flashing) whenever the timed "on" period elapses (a known issue with LED units, discussed on various DIY/electricians' forums).
3. Fittings rusting after one mild winter.
Technology not ready for market, in my opinion. Take back and argue "not fit for purpose"."

Unreliable

"I bought 2 of these lights for customers, 1 lasted 2 weeks and the other a month. Both have been replaced but I'am waiting to see how long they last. Because they are a no maintenance light if anything goes wrong they are scrap, If you are fitting for a customer, so then have to keep going back to replace them, be wary!"
