"I bought this unit to replace an existing older unit
and was very happy with its construction ,cost but the RCD failed to operate properly so I had to return it to Screwfix who were very good in helping me as they did not have another shower unit but did have a spare RCD. One other thing to point out the single RCD was a different build quality from the RCD in the shower unit. This has not put me off from buying this item and I will use it again

poor build quality

"I fit BG consumer units, and I fit BG garage consumer units which are pretty much the same thing as this shower unit, but this is the 1st one of these i have fitted and was shocked a how poor the build quality was. bad points: the RCD and MCB look completely different to the rest of the BG stuff i use, it's only recogniseable from the name stamped on it, and they look cheaper.
the screws in the earth and neutral bars are soft, had badly formed heads and some so tight i could not get them in all the way , not even far enough to get hold of a 10mm cable, so i had to use other ways, good job i only had one circuit to connect into this board! and this was using the correct tools, a plus minus driver, and even a big slotted screwdriver but the heads were not properly formed so it just slipped right out as soon as they got tight.
rcd tested very slow, 39 seconds on x5. thats borderline fail. I fit dozens of the consumer units and garage boards and have encountered very few issues with those, so why are these so different?
good points are the board is a good size, nice and easy to get 25mm tails into and 10mm T&E for the circuit.
I think next time i;ll just buy the garage units and a seperate RCD big enought for a shower then I know what i'm getting
