"This bit was better than expected. It is HSS ground and made in Germany unlike other bits I could mention. Used with cutting fluid these breezed through stainless steel 3mm. I have done 30 holes so far and still looks new. No wandering and cut immediately. I usually use Heller or Gurhing but needed to complete a job quickly. Excellent substitute will go for the 10mm and see how it performs."
There's no need for a centre punch, as the tip holds its position well on start up. They are typically at least twice as fast as conventional HSS bits and the whole team use them as their preferred choice. Worth every penny!
Top Tip: We've found it better to slow the larger drills right down once the main part has started cutting, as they cut more efficiently, overheat less, and don't snatch once they break through. Otherwise they are so sharp that they can pull through suddenly."
"I purchased some 40x40x4mm box section for chainlink posts, at 61 I did not relish the thought of drilling the 42 x 10 mm holes for the eye bolts, I saw the reviews for these drills and thought give them a go. I purchased three, used one, really made the job easy using an 18v rechargeable drill . Drilling at low speed with medium pressure went through like a hot knife through butter. Very pleased with my drills and now have 2 spare for future projects. Eric"
"I was absolutely dreading drilling 12mm holes in some steel supports had to drill about 14 holes this thing went through them like butter I've never used a bit like it I did 14 holes in less than an hour was expecting to take all afternoon!! don't bother with the cheap ones although a little expensive its worth it 100%!!"
"Beats the cheaper 'throwaway' HSS bits by a country mile... clean cuts, a lovely continuous swarf even through the 8mm thick flange of a steel beam. Goes through steel about 4 times faster #keep the drill speed slow though# simply because it just keeps on cutting without losing an edge"
"What can I say? it's a drillbit. Unusual tip shape helps stop it wandering on hard surfaces, lasts very well, seems well made, will be buying more as I need them, especially as 7mm seems to be the size most sets exclude for some strange reason."
"Well-known dessert flowered two cheaper drill bits before biting the bullet and lashing out on the DeWalt bit!
Bit head design allowed slower speed cutting through 2mm 316 stainless steel sheet again and again without getting hot enough to case harden the stainless, as the other bits seemed to do even with oil coolant spray."
"I use these drill bits on vitreous enamel flue pipes, fixing them to their various adaptors and to flue liners. Every time I work with other fitters, they without fail ask what drill bits I use due to the amazing speed these things get through the pipe. An added bonus is their accuracy, it is rare for them to slip on even a cylindrical flue pipe, which other bits certainly do."
