"I have purchase two lots of this product at four week intervals. The first packet was 8mm diaimeter the second lot 1/4" imperial. Both packets are labled 8 x 100mm. Hereby lies the problem! There is also confusion about the diameter in the ScrewFix catalogue / website."
"As previously mentioned the thread on this eye bolt is not M6. I needed a lock nut so bought a pack of M6 nuts to find they didn't fit. I ended up going to a specialist supplier and found the thread to be 1/4 UNC. Hence one star for features!"
"Good product - but be aware thread is not metric, I had assumed they were M6 (the shaft is 6mm). This detail is not in the specification. Only one nut per bolt and no flange at end of thread. so to fit onto sheet material you will need to know what the thread is in order to fit a second nut, unless the fitting is always under tension. Don't know about reliability yet but not in a sea water environment so should be OK."
"Reasonable quality, would be good to know the load bearing capacity. I was using it to lift 45kg deadweight and felt it was going to break on me, so had to come up with an alternative lifting method just in case the thing pinged at my head!! Seems pretty decent overall depending on what you want it for."
"The catalogue description is incorrect because it indicates the thread being a M6 which is not correct, the thread is actually a 1/4" x 20 BSW (whitworth) therefore if you require any extra nuts to fit the eye bolt you will have to source them elsewhere because Screwfix don't stock Whitworth pitch nuts."
"I purchased this pack of 5 eye bolts for a DIY project. They do the job well but BEWARE the thread does is not as long as is shown in the picture and I wanted a back nut as well but of all the various nuts that I have, not one was of the correct thread. You will have to purchase additional nuts of the correct thread."
"As a component it works as well as you would hope, Slightly over the odds in price but the major problem with this product is that it is not metric as described above but it's imperial equivalent, so when you want to put a different nut on the end you can't use the common m8 wingnut/nyloc/shear/slip-on... which you could get from screwfix. Even if you lost the nut you would be stuck with something that's like an m8 but can't be used properly."
"Needed these to go over some existing bolts on my shed (the ones that hold the concrete panels together) so that I could board out a section.
They looked perfect for the job, but on returning home with my sealed carrier bag I found that they were not fully threaded (they are in the photo). Unfortunately I needed them fully threaded , so a return trip needed.
Can't comment on any other aspect of them as I haven't opened the packet, but they look very strong. Maybe time to update the photo, or at least add a description?"
"These may well be made from 8mm rod , but the thread is definately not M8 . I have 2 M8 dies (M8 x 1.0mm and M8 x1.25mm ) Neither of them fit ! So if you want to use a back nut you are going to have a problem as only 1 nut is supplied per eye bolt !"
