"I've been tiling for a few years now and find these to make the job of cleaning down and then polishing the tiles notably easier than the cheaper sponges I've used.
They're a bit firmer and more resistant to rips than many sponges and seem to wipe off excess adhesive or grout just that bit easier.
You can certainly get cheaper ones but personally I find the extra expense is more than made up for in the effort and time saved.
The rougher side (bit like the pads you get for cleaning non stick pans) is excellent for polishing and again makes things just that bit easier.
Please note however that although it has one side for cleaning and one side for polishing, I would use one sponge for cleaning and one for polishing because once you've finished cleaning it's too wet to effectively polish using the other side."
"Hmm,! the sponges were fine, alas the Scotch bight backing came off within 4 immersions in water?! Must have been stuck on with water soluble adhesive! Not what I would now consider suitable for the job. Still I now have plenty of car sponges - all 16!"
"Rough side shrinks like you wouldn't believe which renders it next to useless. Sponge is very hard so although if only slight;y damp it does a good job, it's difficult to wring out and therefore just gets everything too wet! It's fine for polishing everything once grout has set as long as it's a fresh, dry one. Just couldn't get on with them."
"I first bought these sponges a few years ago. They worked well - in particular the abrasive grout removing surface stayed attached to the sponge. The last two sets have fallen appart very quickly. On one set the white faces fell off. On the latest set the white surface wore away after less than 3sqm of tile surface. On a slightly rough faced tile they are hopeless."
