Does what it says on the box

"I used this to replace a failed toroidal transformer in a very expensive light fitting. The Halolite transformer went into the ceiling void rather than the light fitting but had the advantage of being dimmable. Has performed perfectly so far. A replacement toroidal tansformer for the light fitting would have cost over £100 so I saved money too."

Good for Heavy Duty Use

"One of our properties had been fitted with 10 * 20watt 12v halogen downlighters in one room but they'd only used a 100 watt transformer which of course burnt out.
I chose this model because it's only running at 2/3rds it's capacity & the soft-start lengthens the life of the bulbs.

"Excellent way to cut down from 12 x transformers in my case to two single unit that also gave the user the advantage of "dimmable" lights. Especlailly usefull in this case where the installation was in a farmhouse kitchen with exposed beams and thus nowhere to hide all the transfromers. It was easier to hide 2 slightly larger ones than tweleve small ones. Just watch your cable capacities and cable lentghs if you do do this. Make sure you use a separate cable between each light and the transformer and keep close to the recmmended max of no more than 2 metres for each cable. I used 0.75mm black flex with 6 amp capacity at 12 volt. (50W Bulbs use around 4+ amps at 12 volts)."

"This was a replacement which 'did as it said on the tin' it worked first time and was small enough to fit through the hole in the ceiling."

Works fine

"I bought this to replace a large wound transformer which died one day - easy to fit with somewhat small terminals but adequate for the job - the output terminal block came loose on the first one due to poor manufacture (badly soldered on) this was changed over with no problem - the second one is performing well and does not trip my MCB which the previous wound transformer did and seems to be good value - I'll see how long it lasts!!"

Not yet proven .....

"Have just replaced a unit (after 2 years) which overheated due to the loft insulators being over-enthusiastic.
Am hoping the new unit lasts for at least the 5 years of guarantee. I took the previous reviewer's advice on wiring.
Beware - the instruction leaflet shows incorrect layout of the output terminals. The tiny diagram on the body of the unit is correct.
