"I'll start by saying I'm bias toward Dewalt, having used them for many years. So when I needed a core drill this was my first choice naturally and have not been disappointed. Cuts through nearly every i've tried with ease. Was highly surprised with it tackling 2ft rubble stone farmhouse wall in 30 minutes."
"I have used this as a multi purpose drill and also with my Marcrist dry diamond cores.
Very comfortable to use, smaller than expected but not lacking in power.
passed through brick and fly ash block cavity wall like greased lightning.
1.Used on the percussion setting to start the hole and then knocked out the pilot drill. (started outside on the brick)
2.Set on high speed running on full power with a Marcrist CCU850X 52mm core gives absolutely unreal cutting speed no clogging or snatches. I did not time it properly but I reckon the brick was done in under 30 seconds (Standard house brick NOT class A solid blue or B red engineering brick) and the fly ash block, although not the full 4", took under 10 seconds.
Dont know why I've struggled for so long using my sds drill. Not any more!
Tip: use top quality or tried and tested cores.
Cant really give more than 4 stars for reliability as I have not had it long."
"bought it to drill a 125mm hole through my wall for a soil pipe. there are two settings the slower one for drilling with a big core drill, but it isn't as slow as you might think it would be. it went through with no clutch slip ( a problem with my last drill) and even when it got bogged down it performed admirably. I had wanted the 240 volt one but Screwfix have been out of stock for ages, so opted for this one as the job needed doing now. Full marks DeWalt ."
"I purchased this drill just under a month ago. I read all the reviews, trusted DeWalt as a leading brand to be reliable and have a good product (all other power tools are Makita). However, today the drill died on me coring a 50mm hole through a solid brick wall. Before it died, I could smell burning from the drill and smoke came out from the casing. After it died and I'd obviously stopped using it, it stayed boiling hot for another hour! I've used it 5 or 6 times to drill similar sized holes and one 5 inch hole. It worked reasonably well although it yanked several times drilling the 5 inch hole nearly causing me to hurt my wrist. I was hoping this would be a good, reliable drill for a great price but it's obviously not quite up to the standard I was hoping for."
