Well worth it!

"We have old, but sound sash. windows that suffered from heavy condensation overnight, especially in the bedrooms.
I used methylated spirit to clean the paintwork prior to installation as I reckon its better than using white spirit as the instructions state. White spirit can leave an oily residue.
Get the adhesive tape nice and straight and true. Measure your film carefully, mark with felt tip pen and cut with sharp scissors.
Put the film up making adjustments as you go to get it as taut as possible, leaving the hair dryer to make the finishing touches of removing small wrinkles.
Finally, I found a new scalpel was the best thing for final trimming of any overlap of film.
Result; no more condensation. I am impressed at the results, especially at the price."

Response to Dubbeldam (adhesio

"The tape sticks best to very clean paint that is smooth and fairly glossy. It sticks very well (almost immovably) to new paint.
If your paint is old and rough, it will not stick well. Certainly you will get best results by cleaning and drying tthe surface thoroughly
It is a very good-value way to improve insulkation and cut condensation, but you will be lucky if it lasts more than one year. It is difficult to keep the inner surface clean for long periods."

Certainly eliminates draughts
14 Oct 2011

"This product will eliminate the draughts caused by gaps around windows especially the sash type. Bit of a drag to install but well worth the effort when those cold winter winds blow. Seems expensive for what it is - a large sheet of plastic film and a roll of double sided tape - but that is probably re-covered in saved energy costs or at least in comfort. Reliability? You need to check the integrity of the seal between film and frame at regular intervals.
There is a downside; removing the tape from the windows in the spring can be problematic despite the advice given. The adhesive can be extremely tenacious and difficult to remove (I had to use a special chemical product in the end) and paint can be pulled off the frames resulting in the need to do a full stripdown and repaint

Window film
7 Nov 2012

"This window film and tape works fine on small windows but on large ones, the film comes loose very quickly and renders the film useless. This has happened to me on two of my four windows. Is it the adhesive on the tape that is the problem?"

Tape failed on each window
29 Nov 2013
By
, London
"The 3 windows I 'glazed' with this product failed within 24 hours. The tape slowly slipped as the plastic pulled it towards the centre of the window and eventually gave way completely. This was NOT due to the surface being dirtly / greasy as I diligently cleaned it as per the instructions.
On the screwfix site this is branded as a Stormguard product, but when picked up in store it came in a plain plastic bag with no branding.
3 other windows I glazed with a Stormguard branded version (which has a different roll of tape) have stayed perfectly in place for several weeks.
My suggestion is pay an extra quid for the real thing!"

the plastic that does not work
27 Nov 2013

"I have used this before but not this make what I used was by "polycell".
That was good but this which I got from screwfix was terrible.
Stuck ok but when it was shrunk it was ok for 2 or 3 hours then went all slack and looked terrible.
Tried to shrink again and it split so it was useless.
Even bought another pack just as bad.........real glutton for punishment, would never recommend to anyone would lose my mates.
Would have asked for a refund but after you have takken it down I dont think they would accept.
