Very pleased

"I was going to hire an angle drill, as it's not something I use all the time. But I decided to splash out with a view to using it for the project and selling it on in a few months instead of wasting dosh on hire charges. I looked at a few, and someone had already told me that the battery ones didn't really cut it, so I looked at mains ones and this seemed good value.
At first I was disappointed there was no plastic case, just a cardboard box for my £189 but to be honest the tool feels like it's worth all the money. I've found a box from a cheap old drill that's no good, so I'll use that.
I'm so impressed by the no nonsense quality and features that I might just keep it forever. It's small and light, dainty in fact, and the speed is variable and controllable enough you can use it as a precise driver. I was using it to cut 25mm holes which is supposedly it's maximum, but it did it well and in very old timbers too.
One word of caution - always unplug when changing bits - seems an obvious one but sometimes people forget. On this machine it's quite easy to accidentally press the rather large on button whilst undoing the chuck..."

Top Quality Drill!

"Generally a very well engineered product and a joy to use! The motor is very quiet and has no vibration at all, even at the highest speed setting.
It's very powerful for the small size when used at top speed. I have used mine for drilling through many 3" oak joists with a 10mm bit and it works like a dream! The drill can also operate at ridiculously low speeds if desired, but there is not enough torque for this to be useful for drilling or screwing!
Be careful when pushing hard on the drill - when the bit breaks through a joist, it's very easy to bash your fingers due to the front location of the switch!"

Solid and Useful Drill
01-Jan-2013

"This drill feels solid and powerful in the hand, smooth running motor and plenty of power.
Useful for all drilling (and screwing if used slowly) in tight spaces such as through joists and for screwing down bath feet etc.
Big shame this drill does not come with a case - seems a bit tight for a £170 Makita drill when most £99 tools come with a case these days.
The chuck is 10mm so if you were thinking of using larger holesaws it will be quite difficult unless you get an adapter for a larger chuck and risk over-stressing the motor.
All in all pleased."

Too expensive

"This drill feels well build and solid, but it wouldn't be your everyday drill.
This is a specialist drill you use only for the awkward jobs, and for that it does it very well.
However since it's not the drill your going to use all the time, to not supply a case to store it in is just cheap. And this drill is not cheap! The cardboard box it's supplied in isn't going to last long in your van, but I think the drill is sturdy enough to survive the knocks.
Another negative mentioned is the chuck is not keyless and is only 10mm. Forget about hammer action too
The power switch is almost the length of the body, so it is possible to grip the handle and the on switch while your tighening and loosening the chuck - be very carefull!"

"Bought this drill as was refurbishing a mansion and needed to drill all the joists for pipework. Excellent piece of kit, drilled hundreds of 25mm and 32mm holes no problem. I have a Li ion angle drill as well but if drilling lots would definitely recommend the corded one. Only negative is the chuck, I would prefer a keyless 13mm as opposed to the 10mm keyed. But on the whole an excellent buy"

"dont expect the world, does the job, its nice and lightwieght. the chuck isnt very strong though and loses grip easily and really have to tighten it for it to hold, but perfect for drilling small holes ie:below 10mm."

"This drill gets into places standard drills can't reach. Especially between floor joists where it is invaluable for putting in wiring and the new flexible plastic plumbing.
The chuck size is on the small side so choose your auger drill bits with care.
