"I already have a ton of Full size 18 volt Makita tools, so this was an impulse buy really but I started doing more kitchens so decided to go for this kit. Not in store at my local branch so the impulse was a bit lost and I nearly did not buy this kit. I Really like the small punchy powerful 90Nm impact driver with LED work light. Bit noisy in a small house late in the eve, but during the day, No problems. Love the radio and the Aux input as I like to sing while I work? Slight down side for me is the longer charge time over the 22 min fast charge of the full size tools but this has not been a problem for me yet and I did buy a third battery. Overall I love this kit."
"This set is typical Makita quality. As a 10.8 volt set, the drill seems a bit wimpy, but is about what you would expect for such a compact unit. The driver on the other hand punches way above its weight - I'm extremely impressed and would recommend highly. Haven't tried the radio, it was a bit of a bonus item..."
"My father purchased these drills, (minus the radio), and they are exceptional. I would recommend the previous reviewer take the impact driver back for exchange as I'm scared to use his one through fear of it pushing the screws all the way through the wood.
I used these when putting up a false wall frame and they were more than capable of burying the 3" screws into the 2x4 wood. The LED torch is VERY bright, so much so that I didn't bother fetching my lamp when needed. The batteries last for ages and don't take that long at all the re-charge.
I have and would most definitely recommend these to anyone who can afford them. Me personally, it's too much money - PLUS, dad's got a set I can borrow! ;o) Love you dad! LOL"
"got this set as it was on offer for general use its ok but for a tradesman its a bit under powered cant fault the drill drive dose what i expected it to do. the impact driver is ok for screws up to 60mm as it dose not have enough power i found that my dewalt 10.8v impact driver has more power but maybe i am expecting it to do to much. the radio is ok for small spaces but it still is loud enough to fill the house with music (not going to use this much as iv got the makita 18v dab radio) overall they are a good set for me as i am using them along side of my sds and combi drill to put screws in after using the larger drills to drill the holes."
"i bought this kit mainly for the impact driver thinking it would be great for putting up plasterboard ceilings. it works ok but i did swap to the driver with the hope that the battery would last longer. i put up a few boards before the fully charged battery had to be charged. the radio sounds great but sadly unusable due to constantly having to recharge batterys!"
"The drill driver works well for it's size , and very usefull in confined areas - a good lttle driver. The Impact driver , on the other hand is a complete waste of time- nowhere near as good as the drill - lot's of noise and vibration for little result even on small fixings. I was suprised how bad it was compared to the drill driver which appears more powerfull."
"The Drill/driver is brilliant for medium work such as kitchen fitting. Even though only a 10.8V, it is powerful enough to drive a 10 x 3" screw through a 40mm worktop if you really want.
Use it for hanging wall cupboards and fixing them together and so on, one battery will last all day which is just as well because you'll find the spare is flat as it's been running the radio all day. It really needs a battery for each bit of kit.
The real failure here though is the impact driver. Because the gearing is wrong, it actually isn't as powerful as the drill/driver which makes it an utterly pointless bit of kit. All noise and no guts! Never mind big screws, it struggles even with smallish screws and takes ages to drive them in too."
